Former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel is seeking compensation from NBC News following her termination as a paid contributor. McDaniel, who appeared on "Meet the Press" for a 20-minute interview, is reportedly seeking payment for her two-year contract, which would amount to $600,000.
McDaniel's meeting with attorney Bryan Freedman suggests that she may be considering pursuing additional compensation beyond her contractual obligations. Her allies have expressed dissatisfaction with NBC's handling of her hiring, alleging that the network did not adequately consult with key anchors and hosts before bringing her on board.
NBC News journalists, including Chuck Todd, Joe Scarborough, and Mika Brzezinski, had publicly voiced their disapproval of McDaniel's hiring. Todd apologized to Welker for the situation she was put in during her interview with McDaniel.
NBCUniversal News Group chair Cesar Conde announced McDaniel's termination in a memo, citing concerns raised by staff members. Conde emphasized the network's commitment to presenting diverse viewpoints but acknowledged that they would redouble their efforts to seek voices from different parts of the political spectrum.
